DmC: Devil May Cry
(Playstation 4)I can already feel the addiction sinking in again. I couldn't stop thinking about all the combos i could do with Osiris (my fav rn!!) so i played some more! I don't have the time to spend on it as much as i'd want atm and it's eating away at me grrr
Donte time
I'm finally starting the next dmc game on the list after 10 months!! dmc4 has a very strong grasp on me as i'm attempting to platinum it...
Well, first off, despite having heard of DmC's bad reputation a year before playing, i still wanted to go in as blindly as possible. I couldn't avoid the occasionnal spoiler but it still wasnt enough to clue me in on why ppl's opinions were so negative.
So, that being said, my initial expectations were that the game was gonna have a fun gameplay with poor writing. And fun it has been so far! I've played through the first 6 missions and the combat is incredibly enjoyable even if confusing at times when i lose track of which button do what lol It feels like a good remix on 4Dante with some bit of 4Nero. I personally have never been the biggest fan of style switching so i'm grateful there's none of that in the reboot. Instead, all the styles are incorporated with the weapons and other abilities, like all the weapons having more moves usually reserved for SwordMaster/Gunslinger. The downside is that there's no RG (i dont see where they couldve fit it anyway). After gaining a few weapons, I've quickly noticed that the controller is split in two: angel mode(left) and demon mode(right) - and theyre even color coded. That rlly helps with memorizing but im still gonna need to practice weapon switching.
As for the story, its...fine? I'm finding it rlly funny so far altho i wish Dante would be a bit more serious sometimes but its nothing i hate. The whole angel/demon thing going on isnt bad per say but it's not my fav take on the DMC narrative. It completely phases humans out of the main picture which are supposed to be the ones to influence Sparda and Dante's story. Now it's just supernatural beings number 1 vs supernatural beings number 2 and humans are just collateral damage :/ And Vergil might as well be named something else bc thats not him lmao I suspect him of hiding his true intentions bc he's acting way too nicely... i'll have to keep playing to see!
